Iowa Whitetails Forever is the shared vision of a core group of individuals with a commitment to preserve the rich tradition of whitetail deer hunting in Iowa and pass it on to future generations. Our goal is to keep whitetail hunting in Iowa as strong or stronger than we enjoy it today. Our core group has been active as individuals in the past recognizing legislative changes that could either positively or negatively affect Iowa’s deer hunting resource and taking action by contacting our local legislators and specific members of the committee the legislation has been assigned to.

We have come to recognize the need for a larger base of support to protect what we all have, world class whitetails.  Trophy deer hunts selling for thousands of dollars on thousand acre tracts of leased ground dominating the landscape, doe sanctuaries with uncontrolled deer populations, generational family deer hunting traditions broken by hunter land access problems, State biologists who have lost the tools to effectively manage the resource...sound like a  nightmarish scenario? For Iowa perhaps, but this is a reality in several neighboring states. Special interest groups are actively attempting to change Iowa’s whitetail management system to benefit their own narrow agendas. Their legislation is introduced annually, and up until now has been defeated.

So began the concept of IWF, a website designed to give hunters, producers and land owners a gathering place and a voice. Our pledge is to continually monitor proposed legislation at the statehouse and keep everyone updated with e-mails sent out to IWF members. When legislation is introduced that could affect the current system which has produced Iowa’s world class whitetail resource and hunting heritage, we will let you know! Our hope is that you will then help ensure our voice is heard by contacting the necessary legislators when these instances arise.
